In 2008, Indiana University established the IU Center for Criminal Justice Research
(CCJR), a collaborative, multidisciplinary research center within the Indiana University
School of Public and Environmental Affairs and the IU Public Policy Institute. Samuel Nunn serves as director of the CCJR. The CCJR
conducts applied, interdisciplinary research in criminal justice and public safety.
CCJR faculty and staff work collaboratively with government leaders, social service
organizations, and other academic research centers to share research results with
community leaders, practitioners, academic audiences, and citizens that will benefit
from our research findings. Our research addresses a number of critical public safety
issues including crime prevention; criminal justice systems; drugs, alcohol, and
crime; law enforcement/policing; public safety; traffic safety; violence and victimization;
and youth.
Mission
The mission of the CCJR is to collaborate with federal, state, and local government
and law enforcement agencies, and public and private social service organizations
involved in criminal justice and public safety
program development, delivery, and
evaluation.
